If you haven't visited a dentist in a while, prepare to be pleasantly surprised when you arrive at our office and see how dentistry has kept up with the times!

Technology is progressing at a rapid pace, and we apply it in many areas of our practice to provide better outcomes and make your treatment more comfortable and more efficient. Please take a moment to look at some of the technology we offer, then give us a call to see for yourself how easy your dental care can be!

Digital X-Rays

Dental issues commonly begin where they cannot be seen with a visual exam – like between your teeth or under the gum tissue. Digital x-rays allow us to find these problems when they're small and easily treatable.

We also use digital x-rays because they use significantly less radiation to produce these images than film x-rays. Some estimates say that digital x-rays reduce your exposure by as much as 70%!

Images produced by digital x-rays are highly detailed, and since we can project them directly on our chairside monitors, you see exactly what we see. Dr. Irvin can manipulate the image by making it larger or smaller and even adjusting the contrast so you can immediately see what the problem is and why treatment is necessary.

Digital images are stored securely in your patient record, making it easy to send them electronically to specialists and insurance providers when necessary. And because no chemicals are required to process digital images, they are better for the environment!

Rotary Endodontics

We understand the anxiety around root canal treatment. Our goal is to make the procedure as comfortable and stress-free as possible so we can save the tooth and protect your oral health.

Using rotary endodontics, Dr. Irvin performs gentle root canal treatment that makes the procedure more efficient, meaning you spend less time in the dental chair. Rotary endodontics also provide better long-term outcomes because they clean the root canals more thoroughly than traditional endodontic tools.

Intraoral Cameras

Visual dental exams have always been the foundation for diagnosing problems, but with today’s technology, we are able to go one step further.

Intra-oral camera images are beneficial because they make it possible for you to visualize your dental problems. These cameras, which are about the size of a pen, allow you to see exactly what Dr. Irvin sees through her magnifiers, except they can be enlarged and displayed on a handheld monitor.

You can see exactly what we’re seeing, which makes you an active participant in your treatment. When you can see the problem for yourself, you will be able to make a more confident decision about your care.

Digital Appointment Confirmation

Life gets so busy sometimes that it can be difficult to remember the details of an appointment you made weeks ago. But it's critical to stay current with your routine dental care, so we want to make it as convenient as possible for you to plan your visits. We will be happy to arrange to send friendly appointment reminders to you via text message to your smartphone. There's no reason to ever miss an appointment again!

Cosmetic Imaging

If you are thinking about making changes to your smile, it can be difficult to imagine how the final result will look. At Debra V. Irvin, DDS, we use software that allows us to take a photo of the way your teeth look now, then digitally enhance it so you can see how your smile would look with whiter teeth, straighter teeth, or different shaped teeth. Cosmetic imaging lets you preview your new smile so we can talk about the changes you would like and show you how it would look before committing to any treatment.

We email monthly electronic newsletters to our patients between appointments to maintain a continuing doctor-patient relationship.
